Schleich

When I first heard about Schleich action figures (animals, knights, figurines and even smurfs!) I wasn't sure if a review would be worthwhile for our family. Why? Since I wasn't familiar with the brand, I thought it was "just another plastic toy" and we have enough of those. Many end up in the garbage in less than a year because of their poor quality. When I mentioned the possibility of a Schleich review to a mommy friend (I do this often when I'm unfamiliar with a product), she said, "Are you serious?! Those are so awesome, we love them!" Oh, I guess it was time to reconsider...

We received three items from the World of Knights collection, and from the moment the box was opened my son was all over them. He's just turning 6 so I wasn't sure if the appeal of knights and dragons was there yet but it sure is!


He had everything he needed with 2 Knights and a Dragon from the collection to do battle against eachother or against whatever other toys he found (including a dinosaur, a pony, and a few cars apparently). The box from the Dragon serves as a great staging area for his new Schleich figurines.

Schleich figurines are each meticulously hand-painted and have true-to-life modelling (I suppose not in the case of the knights and dragons, heh.) They are all also compliant with all relevant safety regulations. These are not 'cheap' plastic toys but rather high-quality collectible toys that can be easily passed down from one sibling to another or packed away for grandkids one day (let's not think about that right now though, *sniffle*!)

We learned first-hand the quality of these products on the first day we had them! Elijah dropped the Dragon on his foot and yelped (and then we laughed). The Schleich figures are heavy, not hollow, and not brittle plastic either.
